Meeting Minutes 06-08-2023
Monthly LUG Meeting was held at Winchell’s Restaurant & Sports Bar located on Southland Drive.
Attending were Matthew Davidson and David Allen.
Discussion included:
- Moving meetings to Kre8now to give us a permanent location.
- Matthew Davidson has reached out to the founder of Kre8now about meeting there and they would like for us to use the facility on the condition we make a donation.
- We will reach out to Kre8now about them hosting a meeting or two as a trial run.
- Adding local business links to our website.
- The idea of adding Computer Pieces and Parts and their logo to our site in exchange for the store letting their customers know we existed, our URL, and times of our meetings.
- Computer Pieces and Parts itself does not support Linux, but currently gets inquiries about Linux and sells inexpensive older hardware perfect for Linux which could be a plus for us and them.
- We also want to link back to Kre8now on our website.
- We will move forward with this idea.
- Add the group to the in2lex weekly mailing.
- Will be investigated.
Next months LUG meeting will be on 07/13/15 with the location to be determined.
We are looking for presenters or topics to discuss.
David Allen wants to discuss:
Implementing Human Interface Guidelines
Nowadays, the majority of programs requiring user input provide forms for entering information, have the ability to digitize clicks on the screen, or employ various other graphical methods for entering data. Such a facility is called a Graphical User Interface or GUI for short. To aid in designing a GUI, many Human Interface Guidelines or HIGs have been proposed. This talk is about implementing GUIs with HIGs in mind.
This will be presented at a conceptual level, i.e. no computer code is shown. We will run some demonstration programs.
